90 is the new 80

This post is quite overdue….my grandmother celebrated her 90th birthday earlier this month.  We had a celebration planned but with the untimely death of my father, her last surviving child, she asked that we cancel the festivities.  In lieu of our more formal celebration, a group of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren got together to not really celebrate her special day.  Below is a shot of all of those who made it out that Saturday in May:

  1. How sad for your grandmother to have lost all her children, but how lovely for all of you to celebrate her birthday. I hope she had a wonderful day despite the under-lying sadness.

I do not believe that any parent should have to bury a child, and certainly not all of them.

We are, if my niece would issue an eviction notice to the lazy little miss in her tum, soon to be celebrating the addition of a fifth generation girl to our family. Due to family politics, the first time we made it to five generations, it was completely overlooked. This time, regardless of family history, I am determined that it will not go un-noticed.

    Sarah.
