Friday Fun Pic – part 21

I was looking through old pictures on my computer in an attempt to organize them and get them burned to CD when I came across a bunch of old photos of Bean.  This was taken the day of her baptism when she was about 8 months old.   I had forgotten what a chunk she was when she was little.   And how square her face is.  She looks like such an angel in her gown.  Veteran parents often tell newbie parents to cherish moments because they pass quickly.  Sometimes you forget how quickly it really is.

Reading may be fundamental but sleep is essential.

Boy King will be 8 months old on Sunday and while at times it seemed as though he would never be here, it almost feels as though he has always been here.

He is doing well…sleeping a bit less than his initial 12 hours at night and still not quite grasping the nap thing.  He does like to take a morning nap but only about an hour and a half.  Every third day or so he grabs a 3 hour nap which is good for everyone.  We’re still trying to get him to take an afternoon nap but he’s not so down with the idea.

We hit the zoo this week on Tuesday because it was 73 degrees.  What a tease…our high for today is 38.  Spring sucks in that way.  Hopefully I’ll be getting to post some things I’ve been thinking about….I’m trying to find the time because I’m still in the if-the-kids-are-sleeping-then-I’m-going-to-bed mode.  Even if it is only 8:30pm.

I  like to call this one bookends.  They are the first and most likely last of my Mother’s grandchildren (barring any failed vasectomies or tubal ligation’s…and serious lawsuits to follow).  Jack, just 11 in November, is hanging on to the Boy King at a party so graciously given by my Sisters and Mother to welcome Henry into the family a couple of weeks ago.

It’s amazing to see the “old” and the “new” together and they alone share a bond as first and last into our family.  The arrival of these handsome men were so eagerly anticipated by our family that the smothering of attention that was to follow will hopefully be held deep in their psyche’s forever.

Don’t adoption bloggers suck?  I mean, they lure you in with the drama of the adoption process.  The ups.  The downs.  The excitement of the referral.  The waiting for travel.  All the cute pics while overseas.  Then they get home.  And.  It.  Stops.  Yeah, I know.  This two kid thing is tricky.  It’s not that I don’t want to write but I’m just not finding the time.  When I do get time it’s usually reserved for laundry or just plain old vegging out.  I’m trying to get back into the swing of things so thanks to those of you who continue to visit….I promise.  I’ll get better.

I think this sums up, in one brief moment of time, what it means to be 3.  I snapped this at Bean’s third birthday party.  She and her cousin were taking turns jumping off Ikea step-stools in opposite directions.  Ah….to be young.

Yes CJ…you guilted me into posting.  Thanks….

I snapped this pic a week or so ago.  Now that Bean is 3 she seems able to function fairly well without a nap…although it has a tendency to catch up with her now and then and she just passes out cold.  Case and point:

This was following a 30 minute snooze in her bed to which I somehow awoke her.  Oh yeah, it’s because I insist on checking on her while she is sleeping to make sure she is ok.  Duh…I carried her downstairs to the couch where she promptly passed out for another 2 hours.  Nah, she don’t need no stinkin’ nap.
